Day 1: Cellular Jail & Carbyne’s Cove

Cellular Jail

A colonial prison on the Indian islands of Andaman and Nicobar was known as the Cellular Jail, also known as Kala Pani (Hindi for "Black Water"). The British specifically used the prison to exile political prisoners to the far-flung archipelago. During the fight for India's independence, several notable dissidents, including Batukeshwar Dutt, Yogendra Shukla, and Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, among others, were imprisoned here. The Complex is used as a national memorial monument today.

Carbyne’s Cove

It is the closest beach to the town and is located 7 kilometers south of Port Blair. A pleasant sea and coconut palms surround this soft sandy beach. You might simply lounge around or participate in water sports like boating, sailing, and surfing. These activities are available at the beach's tourism complex.
